What IEHP Covers

Under California’s DHCS standing recommendation, IEHP members receive:

• Up to eight additional prenatal and/or postpartum visits (any mix based on your needs)
• Full labor & birth support
• Support for miscarriage, abortion, or stillbirth
• Two extended 3-hour postpartum visits
• Telehealth or in-person care

If additional postpartum support is medically appropriate, we coordinate a second recommendation allowing up to nine more postpartum visits.

Cost to you: $0 for covered members.

What Doula Care Includes

Your covered visits may include:

• Emotional and physical labor support
• Lactation guidance
• Recovery support

• Coordination with your clinical team

Doulas provide non-medical support and work alongside your OB, midwife, or hospital team.

How Coverage Works — Step by Step

  1. Contact us and confirm you have IEHP Medi-Cal.

  2. We verify eligibility for your month of service.

  3. We apply the DHCS standing recommendation or coordinate a provider note if needed.

  4. We schedule your first visit (virtual or in-person).

  5. If you need extended postpartum support, we coordinate the second recommendation.

We make the process seamless.
