How to Use Your IEHP Insurance to Get a Doula—Step-by-Step Guide (San Bernardino & Riverside)

If you’re pregnant and have Medi-Cal through Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), you may qualify for free doula support—including prenatal visits, labor and birth support, and postpartum care.
But most people don’t know how to find a doula who’s approved or how to start the process. This guide walks you through it, step by step.

Step-by-Step Guide to Getting a Doula with IEHP

Step 1: Confirm You Have IEHP Medi-Cal

Check your health insurance card. If it says:

IEHP – Inland Empire Health Plan – Medi-Cal

and you live in San Bernardino or Riverside County, doula support is likely covered for you.

Step 2: What Doula Services Does IEHP Cover?

IEHP covers:

  • One initial visit

  • Up to 8 additional visits that may be provided in a combination of prenatal and postpartum visits

  • Up to two extended 3-hour (each) postpartum visits within 12-months from the end of pregnancy

These services are covered 100% by IEHP—no out-of-pocket costs.

Step 3: Choose a Doula Who Is Approved by IEHP

Melancentric is a credentialed doula provider with IEHP in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
That means you can contact us directly—you do not need a doctor referral.

We’ll verify your insurance and schedule your first visit quickly.

Step 4: Book a Free Consultation with Melancentric

We’ll help you understand your benefits, walk you through the next steps, and match you with a doula who fits your needs.

  • Labor support for hospitals or birth centers

We meet you where you are—physically, emotionally, and culturally.
