How to Get a Free Doula in the Inland Empire with IEHP (Riverside & San Bernardino Counties)

Are you pregnant and living in Riverside or San Bernardino County? If you have Medi-Cal through IEHP (Inland Empire Health Plan), you may be eligible for free doula services—including prenatal visits, support during labor, and postpartum care.
Many IEHP members don’t know this benefit exists, but it’s available now—and you don’t need a referral to get started.

Melancentric is an approved doula provider with IEHP, currently supporting families across the Inland Empire. Here’s what you need to know to get help today.

What Is a Doula—and Why Might You Want One?

A doula is a trained professional who supports you physically, emotionally, and informationally throughout your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey. Doulas help you:

  • Understand your birth options

  • Plan for labor and delivery

  • Use comfort techniques for pain

  • Feel emotionally supported

  • Recover and adjust after giving birth

  • Navigate grief, miscarriage, or abortion (if needed)

We are not medical providers—but we are trained to walk beside you, advocate for you, and help you feel strong, confident, and informed.

What IEHP Covers for Doula Services

As an IEHP member, you may be eligible to receive:

  • Up to 8 total doula visits
(These can be split between pregnancy and postpartum care)

  • In-person labor and birth support
(Your doula will be with you at home or in the hospital)

  • Support after miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion

  • Education, emotional care, and partner guidance

All of these services are 100% covered by IEHP—you pay nothing.
